Prototypes
Fast, flexible, responsive

Casting prototypes, at speed
Fast iterations, all the design freedom you need

At Römheld & Moelle, we draw on state-of-the-art processes, perfectly suited to casting prototypes. Our advanced technologies enable rapid testing and iterative product development. Our patternless and full mold casting methods enable fast iterations of designs – or simultaneous production of multiple design variations.

Our processes offer flexible design options right up to the casting stage, allowing for geometry modifications after each casting. We guarantee high-quality castings and cost-effective production, even at very low production volumes.

Rapid prototyping

– with Printed Casting

Printed Casting is our 3D sand printing process. It opens up exciting new possibilities in prototype casting. This hybrid process combines additive manufacturing with traditional casting. At Römheld & Moelle, we print molds in our own 3D sand printing production – entirely without – and pour them just as any other mold in our iron foundry.

The patternless process makes the casting of prototypes possible and economical, with no extra costs for complexity or small quantities. Mold production using 3D sand printing also offers a higher level of digitization, making the entire prototyping process faster and more flexible: from quick ordering to easy repeats (with or without design variation). This allows iterative prototype casting tailored to your requirements.

Printed Casting offers the same design freedoms as other AM processes, but with familiar materials and material properties. This makes the use of casting possible and attractive much earlier in the product development process. Functional integration, undercuts, complex geometries—no problem. Variants of parts with minor differences can be produced simultaneously, and designs can be optimized quickly and easily.

ClearCast:
Cost-efficient precision

ClearCast is a new process developed by us and exclusively available at Römheld & Moelle. An evolution of the full mold casting process, ClearCast unlocks additional advantages for highly demanding applications that were previously only possible with permanent patterns – usually at significantly higher costs.

ClearCast castings are completely residue-free, featuring consistently high-quality surfaces on all sides. This makes the process especially suited to the casting of prototypes, where both speed and precision are paramount and where other methods would not be economical.
