Our customers in mechanical engineering challenge us, demand absolute quality compliance, and set the highest standards for their cast machine components—whether it’s about visible surfaces, material homogeneity, or the properties of the casting material.
With large pattern storage facilities no longer economically sensible in today’s world, foundry patterns that are only needed every few years eat up production, storage, and maintenance costs. Our processes offer manufacturers of machinery genuine alternatives:
- Castings for special machines and one-off cast machine components at extremely low pattern costs
- More economical casting processes for small series
- Instant availability of cast machine components without the need to keep patterns in stock
- Design changes – for example, during series ramp-up – at no additional cost
- No need to hold and maintain patterns for rarely sold spare parts and machines
As alternatives to welded constructions, cast machine components produced using full mold casting, ClearCast, or 3D sand printing offer strategically important advantages: significantly shorter lead times and cost savings with consistent quality, especially for complex geometries.
For mechanical engineering, Römheld & Moelle manufactures highly complex cast machine components with unit weights ranging from 5 kg to 38t. Large castings with dimensions of up to eleven meters in length, five meters in width, and five meters in height can be realized. Depending on the requirements and size of the component, the appropriate R&M process is selected in close consultation with our foundry engineers.
