Spare parts casting
Remanufacturing of cast spare parts

At Römheld & Moelle, we offer casting processes that make the remanufacturing of cast spare parts practical, straightforward, and cost-effective.

Our three primary processes - ClearCast, Printed Casting, and full mold casting - are all suited to the fast production of cast spare parts as one-offs or in small series. They enable easy reproduction of spare parts without the delays and costs of processes with permanent pattern.

With Printed Casting, we can also offer a digital parts inventory, where we hold all the digital data we need to print the mold and cast the part – on demand.

A case for Römheld & Moelle?

Our cast spare parts customers come to us when:

  • an original manufacturer can no longer supply a spare part;
  • a spare part is only needed occasionally, making the cost of making and storing a permanent pattern uneconomical;
  • the original permanent pattern for a part has been lost (e.g., due to supplier bankruptcy);
  • a spare part is needed urgently, requiring exceptionally fast turnaround times;
  • they want to improve the design of the part rather than just reproduce it.

From very large cast spare parts to mixed batches with slight variations, all the way to highly complex, demanding components -we deliver fast, efficiently, and at the right price. We also provide additional services like 3D scanning, 3D model creation, and coordination with machining experts to ensure a smooth process.

Printed Casting:

your digital spare parts warehouse.

Printed Casting is our 3D sand printing process – a hybrid casting technology where sand molds are printed directly in our 3D sand printers and subsequently cast in the foundry.

It’s sand casting as you know it, but without the pattern. Instead, there is a 3D CAD model from which a digital printing file of the mold is created. A key advantage: once the 3D model and printing file are available, they can be stored in a digital spare parts warehouse and cast only when needed.

3D sand printing delivers the same precision as casting with permanent patterns, but it also allows for the economical production of very complex castings. By eliminating the pattern-making phase, the whole process is significantly faster.

ClearCast:
full mold casting for
demanding applications

ClearCast is a casting process developed in-house at the Römheld & Moelle. It combines the advantages of full mold casting (no rigid and lengthy pattern making, greater design freedom, enhanced cost efficiency) with the precision of permanent pattern casting. This enables the economical and fast production of cast spare parts with high surface qualities.

Spare parts produced using ClearCast exhibit consistently high-quality surfaces on all sides. This makes the process particularly suitable for demanding cast spare parts of up to 20t that are needed quickly.
