ClearCast
Precise, fast, exclusively from us

Prototypes, one-offs, small series
Precision meets speed with ClearCast

ClearCast combines the quality of sand casting using permanent patterns with the fast lead times, design freedoms, and cost advantages of full mold casting. Developed in-house, it’s available exclusively from Römheld & Moelle.

ClearCast achieves casting surface qualities that are otherwise only possible with permanent patterns. This makes it particularly suitable for small series, one-off parts and prototypes that require a high surface quality on all sides, but for which the production of a permanent pattern would not be economically viable.

This advanced process expands the possibilities of full mold casting. ClearCast unlocks the advantages of the full mold process for applications where previously only a permanent pattern would do – at much higher costs.

ClearCast is an evolved full mold process, developed and optimized through extensive testing of foam materials, molding compounds, gating systems, and washes. It enhances the full mold casting process by adding the benefits of permanent pattern casting, while retaining cost and speed benefits.

ClearCast: A clear advantage

The ClearCast process is a lost foam/lost pattern method, offering numerous advantages over permanent pattern processes without compromising on casting quality and precision:

  • Cost advantage: By reducing model costs and through process-driven optimizations in core production and molding, ClearCast can be up to three times more cost-efficient than permanent pattern casting.

  • Speed advantage: The rapid lead times of this newprocess deliver castings within just a few weeks. Compared to permanent patterns, order fulfillment can be reduced by up to 6 weeks.

  • Design freedom: ClearCast enables limitless design flexibility. Undercuts that are unachievable with permanent patterns are no problem at all.

  • Design changes anytime: ClearCast, combined with CAM-based pattern design, allows modifications and optimizations after every casting. This makes ClearCast particularly attractive for custom machine components and prototypes.

ClearCast is the perfect solution for iron castings that require high surface qualities and/or precisision machining on multiple sides. It’s particularly suited to application in mechanical engineering and tool making, especially where components or tools are needed in small series or with customization.

ClearCast is an excellent method for manufacturing prototypes, spare parts, and retrofit components. In short, anywhere flexibility, speed, and precision are essential.
